  • Christmas Commercials

Do you have any family or friends that will be far away for the  holidays?  This commercial from Hallmark gets me everytime.  It's the grandmother reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to the two little girls and it's very sweet.  What a great present for a loved one that you won't get to see this holiday?

    Check it out....

  • Freedom doesn't come free...

One of the best "military" stories that I have ever heard came from one of my dear friends Patti Clement.  Her daughter Katie was dating a soldier several years ago who was coming home from Iraq and stopping here in Knoxville, TN to see her first.  They went to the airport to pick him up and as they were riding the elevator to the parking garage they were greeted by an elderly couple.  The man immediately saluted Katie's boyfriend who was in his army dress.  He shook his hand and told  him that he was a veteran and would've loved to have been over there with him.

Freedom does not come free...And I am proud of my grandfather: Clifford Arnold Monk, Chad's dad: Robert Earl Cox, Chad's cousin: Todd Cox and our dear friends Ryan McGlothlin and Joe Davis (who is still serving), and countless and nameless others who have fought and are fighting everyday for my freedom and for the free lives of my children.  The words Thank You are never enough but please know we Thank You today and are blessed because of the path's that you have chosen to take....

  • Is it too early to write letters to Santa?  My kids sure don't think so!  The moment the sale catalogs started coming in the mail, Brody was hooked!  He has been pouring over the ads from Toys-R-Us and Target for at least 2 weeks picking out what he wanted!  Then last Thursday we needed a project so we got out the scissors and started cutting!  The kids showed me what to cut out and then we taped them on our Santa letters so he would know EXACTLY what they wanted!  Molly even included the boys on her page when she asked for a Leapster in pink and 2 green ones for the boys.  Also, notice that Molly wrote out all her own stuff - including Dear Santa, Love Molly and it's hard to see but she is dying for a Strawberry Shortcake Cafe and wrote it out herself too!  She is such a smart little lady and I am so proud of her!  (Sorry the pictures are so difficult to see)

And then this morning my smart little cookie stood in the kitchen for at least 5+ minutes and watched the coffee drip out of the coffee pot - ha ha!!

  • When you thought I wasn't looking...

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

A message every adult should read because children

are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my
first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
    wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
    to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my
favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little

things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a
prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always
talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care
of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't
feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
    responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come
from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you
cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of
life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and
wanted to say,'Thanks for all the things I saw when
    you thought I wasn't looking.'

My mom sent this to me today and I would rather put it on the blog than forward it to everyone.  Happy Fall Friends!

    Happy Fall....

How is being a Christian like being a pumpkin?

...God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.  Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

This was passed on to me by another pumpkin.

I liked this enough to post it for all the pumpkins in my patch.

My good friend and neighbor Tracy Kegley just posted this recipe on Facebook and I wanted to share with my xanga friends too!  Hope you enjoy!

Here's the recipe for the Hot Caramel Apple Cider:
Need: 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 cups apple cider, 1/2 cup water...1/2 cup heavy cream, and 1 Tablespoon brown sugar.
Step 1: First, bring the 1/4 cup cream and 1/4 cup brown sugar to a boil in a med. saucepan over med. heat. Stir in the cider and the water and raise the heat to medium high, heating just until the cider begins to steam, about 4 min.
Step 2: Divide among 4 mugs, top each one with 2 Tablespoons of caramel whipped cream (Step 3) and serve immediately.
Step 3: caramel Whipped Cream: In a small chilled bowl, whip the 1/2 cup heavy cream with the 1 Tbsp. brow sugar until soft peaks form

  • He is jealous for me...

My new favorite song - David Crowder Band - Check out the lyrics and then hop over to You Tube to hear this powerful song.  Thank you Lord that you are jealous for me....And if your grace is an ocean, Praise be to You that I am sinking.....

    He is jealous for me
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy

    When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
And I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me

Oh, how He loves us so
    Oh, how He loves us
    How He loves us all

    Yeah, He loves us
    Oh, how He loves us
    Oh, how He loves us
    Oh, how He loves

And we are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If His grace is an ocean, we're all sinking

And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way...

  • August 29

Today is my Molly's 4th birthday and we cannot believe it!  She has truly blessed us everyday of her four years and we are so thankful to God for allowing us to take care of her and raise her to be a sweet young woman of Christ.  Before she was born this was and still is our prayer over her:

James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, sent down from the Father of heavenly lights."
