  • Thank You Lord!!

God is Always So Good!  I needed to hear this today:

PORT-AU-PRINCE - A 17-year-old girl pulled from the rubble in a stunning rescue 15 days after the earthquake was in stable condition Thursday, able to eat yogurt and mashed vegetables to the surprise of doctors, who said her survival was medically inexplicable.

  • Derek Dooley

When I hear the words "Coach Dooley", I think of the Darling family on The Andy Griffith show singing.....

    draft_lens2237524module12115598photo_1224424867dillards-darlings

    "Dooley slippin' up the holler
Dooley try to make a dollar Dooley give me a swaller
And I'll pay you back someday."

And obviously I wasn't the only one who thought so - someone on a Rocky Top message board posted about the same thing!  Welcome Coach Dooley - I will forever see the Darlings in my mind!!

  • Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow is taking his star power to sport's biggest stage.

The former Florida quarterback and his mother will appear in a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl next month. The Christian group Focus on the Family says the Tebows will share a personal story centering on the theme "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life."

The group isn't releasing details, but the commercial is likely to be an anti-abortion message chronicling Pam Tebow's 1987 pregnancy. After getting sick during a mission trip to the Philippines, she ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child and gave birth to Tim.

The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner ended his college career with several NCAA, Southeastern Conference and school records, and two national championships. Tebow also has been very involved in his family's Christian-based ministry.

Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family, said the commercial comes at a time when "families need to be inspired."

"Tim and Pam share our respect for life and our passion for helping families thrive," Daly said. "Focus on the Family is about ... strengthening families by empowering them with the tools they need to live lives rooted in morals and values."

Thirty-second commercials during the Super Bowl are selling for between $2.5 million and $2.8 million. Daly said all the funds for the ad came from a handful of "very generous and committed friends," and that no money from the group's general fund was used.

"Now that the ad has been shot, we're excited to tell people it's coming because the Tebows' story is such an important one for our culture to hear," he said. "You won't want to miss it."

  • Haiti Part 3

Listening to KLOVE this morning they were sharing POSITIVE stories from their listeners in the midst of the tragedy in Haiti.  A man called in to tell them that his aunt is on a missions trip in Haiti at an orphanage but they were away from the building during the time of the earthquake.  When they were finally able to return to the housing facility, they realized that the entire staff and orphans had been on the roof of the building having their prayer time for the evening when the earthquake hit and were able to ride on the building as it crumbled to the ground. AND GUESS WHAT?   NO ONE WAS HURT!

Thank God for answers to our prayers.  You can see my my friend Amanda's thoughts on the earthquake in Haiti by visiting her blog - Trent Tribe Refreshment Company!

Please enjoy the rest of your day but please do not fail to remember those in Haiti.

  • Haiti Part 2

I listen to KLOVE faithfully everyday while I am cooking, sewing, cleaning, riding in the car etc and they have been giving updates on the situation in Haiti and taking calls from loved ones with missionaries there that have not been heard from and how we as believers can help.  I shushed the kids today during lunch because I wanted to hear what they were saying on the radio and then decided I needed to explain what was going on.  I told the kids about the earthquake and that buildings had fallen and lots of children and families were hurt or without homes.

The kids began to say some wonderfully, sweet things.  Molly immediately said (without being prompted I want you to know), "Can we go get some kids and bring them here and take care of them mom?"  And the boys have said some pretty heart wrenching things too.  Cooper who ADORES small beanie baby animals from McDonalds Happy Meals said, "I can share my animals and I will give them pajamas and they can sleep in my bed."  And Brody tells me, "Mom, we can give the babies a bottle."  We stopped what we were doing at lunch and held hands and prayed.  All evening they have talked about those children and how much they want to help them.  I can honestly say that makes this mother's heart VERY happy that they are learning to think of others at such an early age.

My heart is in turmoil for the people of Haiti.  I am devastated right along with each and every one of them.  I have prayed, I am praying and I will pray.  Emails are being sent, there are rumblings of a trip during Spring Break, the Lord is moving and I want to move right along with him.  Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti.

Can't I just go to Haiti and snag up a couple of those precious orphans that are going to need a good Christian home and loving parents and sweet brothers and a sister?  If only it were that easy - pray for the people of Haiti - they have been on my heart all week.  I cannot imagine their devestation and the situations they find themselves in right now.  Lord, please be with them.

Did you know that "google" is the word of the last decade?  And did you know that it was a mistake?  When the creators of the search engine were trying to come up with a title for their website, they wanted to use "googol" a mathmatical term that means 10 to the 100th power and they felt that best described their search engine for the infinite numbers of sites that the internet holds.  When they went to type in "googol" they mistyped it and wrote "google" instead.  Now their mistake is the word of the last decade!

Sometimes our greatest mistakes turn into our biggest successes!  Think about it...
